Routes from Walsall direction now reach Lichfield at a new roundabout where a bypass route bears right. Ignore this and go straight on ( road appears restricted but is OK ) You will reach the Bowling Green Island - turn left towards RUGELEY on the A51. Cross the A515 at a roundabout and continue towards RUGELEY for about three miles. Longdon is on the right directly after a short stretch of dual carriageway. Note 40 mph sign. Watch for signs for Post Office (2) Take care this road is dangerous at night. Take the second right turn at the refuge into Brook End. The village hall is on the left directly ahead of you after the Swan with Two Necks pub. . See Photo. Parking is limited but on street parking is allowed. Brook End is a loop road back to the A51 with exit southbound only.
Route from Tamworth A51 enter Lichfield passing under the railway bridge, to traffic lights, then to a sharp left bend past Lichfield College, where there is a mini roundabout. Continue to the Bowling Green Island - named after the pub in the centre of it ! Continue around the island following signs for RUGELEY Then proceed as above.
Route from the north A 51 - Stoke on Trent etc come through RUGELEY . Shortly after passing Bradley Lakes premises on the right, the road curves right, and the first left turn to Longdon village is on the left into Brook End. (signed Post Office ) A short distance ahead you will see the Swan with two Necks public house - the village hall is directly right of the pub. ( looks like a school ).
Route from Burton (A38) - approach with Lichfield city station on your left to traffic lights. Turn right then proceed as above.
